The SAGE (Sharable Active Guideline Environment) Project is a research
and development project to develop a standards-based infrastructure to support the
encoding, dissemination and deployment of interoperable, electronic clinical practice guidelines.
Main project results will include:
- "A guideline model: a standards-based "language" for representing clinical guidelines in a consistent format
- A guideline "workbench" [or knowledge authoring tool] to enable standards-based guidelines to be expressed in a uniform electronic format
- A guideline deployment system: technology to enable the electronic guidelines to be imported into any clinical information system." [IDX]
