description

"EpiSurveyor.org works in conjunction with EpiSurveyor Mobile to design and deploy surveys. EpiSurveyor Mobile, a mobile phone based application, is a simple, award winning solution for collecting data in field-based surveys. The forms are designed on EpiSurveyor.org and downloaded to a mobile phone. All the data collected is backed up to a remote server, where it can be analyzed later. A computer is only necessary when the survey designer creates the forms to be used in the survey. The survey designer and the field staff only require basic computer skills to use EpiSurveyor.org and EpiSurveyor Mobile. EpiSurveyor Mobile is available for standard mobile phones, making it very economical, particularly in situations where financial constraints are a major hindrance to the process of effective, fast, and accurate data collection."

"EpiSurveyor.org is used to:
  • Create forms that can later be downloaded to a mobile phone
  • Edit forms
  • View data and analysis that has been uploaded from the mobile phone to the server
  • Delete forms
  • Share forms with other users."

EpiSurveyor is largely used by non-governmental and government agencies in developing countries, particularly in Africa.

"DataDyne.org [is] a non-profit organization that uses mobile information technologies, including handheld computers, mobile phones, the Internet, and GPS, to create sustainable information flow in developing countries and to break down the barriers to data utilization."
