Looking at a patient

You will then be presented with details about that patient. At the top of the screen are 4 options that can be selected by clicking on them at any time:
  1. Select new patient - will take you back to the "Selecting a patient" screen
  2. This patient's menu - will return you to the menu of options (see below) for this patient at any time
  3. On-line R3 protocol - will display a pdf version of the protocol document
  4. Log out - for security this should always be clicked after you have finished using the application
  5. Print - use this to print the screen to a printer
The screen will be divided into 3 "panes" (Patient Details, Blood and Dose History and Menu).
  1. Patient Details pane
A list of basic patient details.
  2. Blood and Dose History pane
This pane displays a table of the blood results and dose decisions taken during the patient’s maintenance treatment, one cycle (12 week interval) at a time. Initially the current cycle is displayed but other cycles can be displayed by clicking on a number in the "Select cycle" list. The current week will be highlighted in green. Click on a week number to see the tasks normally due in that week. Click on the blood parameter column headings for graphs of blood results.
  3. Menu pane
It gives 2 options for entering data to the database:
    1. Enter new blood result and dose decision Choosing this option will take you to a form that allows you to enter blood result information on which you will be basing a decision. Validation will be done on your entries and you will be sent to a "data check" screen to enable you to see and check the information on which decision support will be based.
    2. Enter dose decision only You may want to just enter a dose decision without basing it on a blood result (in which case no decision support will be available).

Dose calculator

Selecting either menu options will eventually send you to the dose calculator screen. There are a two parts to this screen. The top part forms the advice from the decision support. The bottom part forms the dose calculator and decision submission form. Note that altering any part in the dose calculator will automatically alter all the other information that was based on that part:
  1. The recommended next dose %s will be selected by default
  2. You can select another plan i.e. a recognised dose %s combination by clicking on down arrow on the "Choose dose %s" drop down list and then clicking on your required option.
  3. You can choose other combinations of dose % steps (0, 50, 100, 125 or 150) by clicking on the drop down lists in the required dose %s column
  4. You can choose to prescribe your own doses by clicking on the drop down lists in the "Prescribable dose" column
  5. You can reset the dose calculator to the recommendation at any time by clicking on the "Reset to recommendation" button
  6. When you are happy with the doses that you have chosen you should select a date that this decision will become active i.e. when the child will start taking the new doses
  7. You can also enter reasons for the decision or comments in the "Reasons for decision/Comments" text box - these will be displayed in the "Blood and Dose History panel" associated with your decision (see above)
  8. Click the "Submit" button when you are happy with the information that you have entered and the data will be validated and you will proceed to the "Commit to database" screen. This simply asks you to verify that the information that is about to be committed to the database is correct - if you click the "yes" button then the data will be committed to the database and will appear in the "Blood and Dose History" screen otherwise the data will be discarded. Either way you will be returned to the menu pane.
