Java software library that presents information-dense displays of time-oriented data.
DataMontage™ is a commercial Java class library that enables users
to display information-dense collections of timelines, time-series graphs, and time-stamped notes within
Java applications, applets, and HTML pages generated by web server applications.
It was originally developed to support rapid review of patient histories before and during patient visits
and is well-suited to displaying graphical patient histories (for example, in the Intelligent Patient Data Review Assistant (IPDRA) project - see link below)
DataMontage enables users to define "patient views" that present a clinically-meaningful subset of a patient's data.
For example, problem-oriented views, such as a "hypertension" view, might present data that are relevant for assessing the
severity and time course of the problem, as well as the efficacy and adverse effects of treatments.
Other types of views might focus on specific patient demographic groups or body systems.
Patient data views support the use of clinical guidelines by displaying subsets of the patient data that the
clinician should consider, including relevant lab tests, normal ranges, and target values, studies, treatments,
diagnoses of related problems, and indicators of the effectiveness and adverse effects of treatments.
Demonstrations of the use of DataMontage in clinical technologies concentrate on
diabetes, hypertension, and drug safety (though it should be notes that
the technology can be applied in other domains):
- Lincoln Technology's Clinical Trial Signal Detection (CTSD) environment which uses DataMontage to present graphical summaries of patient data to help medical reviewers detect drug safety signals in clinical trials data
- Patient summaries in the treatment of diabetes
- Patient summaries in cardiac care.
