description
Diabetes In Action was an interactive training aid for NIDDM (Non-Insulin Dependent Diabetes) aimed at General Practitioners in the UK.

The application was the first computer program to qualify for PGEA (postgraduate education allowance) in the UK. The system employed a customised version of a commercial expert system shell.

The program has two modes:
  • A reference mode to assist GPs to improve their awareness of the disease, its presentation, diagnosis and treatment;
  • An interactive mode inviting GPs to assess their knowledge, and to help them assess their learning needs.
